Miyazaki 1984

His second film, first major hit in 1984 led to the foundation of Studio Ghibli!
Nausicaa and the Valley of the wind (watch the original with subtitles)!
Incredible story depth combined with strong characters. The 80s soundtrack is a bit weird, but still somewhat fitting.
The ease with which Miyazaki weaves absolutely different topics together, from greek myth to modern ecological tale is simply stunning. Amazing movie.
